Vollmer HO Gottlieb-Daimler Memorial Site Kit
The worldwide known engineer, construction engineer, and industrialist Gottlieb Daimler was born 1834 in Schorndorf nearby Stuttgart. In 1882 Daimler moved with his family to Cannstatt and remodeled his garden house as a workshop. Together with his employee and friend Wilhelm Maybach he was following the idea of individual mobility. Keeping it strictly secret, the two men were working day and night. Neither family nor other employees knew what was going on there. Daimler installed his motor in a four-wheel-carriage, and thus became the inventor of the automobile. Shortly after that event, the little garden house was too small and Daimler moved his facilities to a bigger factory building. The small garden house was restored carefully and became the Gottlieb Daimler Memorial-Site, where the spirit of this time of inventions lives on and can still be felt. 6-5/16 x 5-13/16 x 2-13/16"
