Trumpeter Ship Models 1/350 German DKM Graf Zeppelin Aircraft Carrier (New Tool) Kit
Just before World War 2 the German high command felt the need to supplement and bolster their surface fleet with two aircraft carriers The first ship, DKM Graf Zeppelin, was launched on December 8, 1938 but because of other wartime commitments was never put into active service. The ship was originally designed to have a compliment of 42 carrier-borne aircraft but was then revised later to carry 30 navalized Junkers Ju 87 "Stuka" dive bombers and 10 Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighters. The additional weight of the naval version of the Ju 87 aircraft delayed construction while the ship's flight deck and elevators were strengthened to handle their additional weight.
Kit features 2-piece full hull, highly detailed (flight deck, hangar deck and superstructure), full weapons suite (16 × 15 cm SK C/28 guns, 12 × 10.5 cm SK C/33 guns, 22 × 3.7 cm SK C/30 guns, 28 × 2 cm FlaK guns), ships crane, life rafts and ships boats, deck fittings, extensive photoetch (railings, inclined and vertical ladders, mast, antenna and additional fine accents), aircraft catapult and aircraft (Ar-185 (x5), BF-109T (x5), FI-167 (x5) Ju-87 (x5)), name plate and display stand. Completed model is approximately 29.52" long. Decals and 3-view color painting guide representing flight deck markings, aircraft insignia, hull markings, jack and ensign.
