Tamiya Model Ships 1/700 IJN Matsu Destroyer Waterline Kit
To make up for increasing destroyer losses during WWII, the Japanese Navy created the "Tei Type" destroyers which featured simplified construction. The first ship of this class was the Matsu, which was completed in April 1944. To reduce construction time and save materials, the hull and bridge design consisted of simple straight edges and surfaces. This model accurately reflects the unique features of the "Tei Type" destroyers, including the 2nd funnel which was offset to the right. The main turrets and large numbers of 25mm anti-aircraft guns fitted during the end of the war are also highly detailed and portray the desperate fight against U.S. air superiority. Completed Length: 143mm
