The Chance-Vought F-8 Crusader was the US Navy’s first supersonic, carrier based jet fighter. Armed with four 20mm cannon and capable of carrying 4,000 lbs. of ordnance including AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missles and “Zuni” air-to-ground rockets, it was a very impressive air superiority aircraft. Nicknamed “The Mig Killer”, it boasts an imposing combat record over the skies of Vietnam.
