BRONCO MODEL SHIPS 1/350 RUSSIAN BOREI CLASS J550 KIT
The K-550 Alexander Nevskiy is the second of the Borei Class Russian ballistic missile submarines to be launched, and is a close copy of the Yuriy Dolgoukiy the lead submarine of the class. The submarine is expected to enter service in 2012 with the North Atlantic Fleet. The Borei Class is to replace the Delta and Typhoon classes, but has been delayed by problems with the weapon systems. First the R-39UTTH "Bark" missile was canceled, and the replacement, the R-30 "Bulava" has also been delayed by test failures. The early Borei SSBN's will carry 16 missiles, later vessels will be modified to carry 20. The submarine is 170 meters long and is capable of 28 knots submerged. In addition to her ballistic missiles, she has 6 torpedo tubes capable of launching PRK-2 "Viyuga" cruise missiles. Crew is 55 Officers and 52 enlisted men.
